10mm Orbs wrapped in Sterling. *The Orbs have been tested with my Presidium II and are guaranteed to be genuine Quartz Gemstone. These are
not glass

~ The last photo depicts a 1920s “Flapper” wearing a POL necklace which was very popular during the Art Deco era and oh, how these beauties shimmered in the low lights of the speakeasy!

~ History:
Chinese in origin, “Pools of Light” orbs have existed for thousands of years and are composed of exquisite,
clear
Quartz crystal which is
not pierced
. The Chinese believed that in leaving the stones un-drilled, they kept the chi or spirit from escaping the gemstone.
Quartz crystals are able to direct, store, increase, transmit and transform energy which is why they are used in everything from watches to radios to lasers. They have also been shown to impact thought and emotion and are said to stimulate, energize, and heal. Many shamans used these stones for religious rituals and healing properties and “Rock Crystal” Quartz also graced the temples of ancient cultures such as the Chinese, Japanese, Mayans, Aztecs, and many others. These gems also possess an interesting optical phenomenon in that images seen through these orbs will appear upside down or reversed. The orbs on this necklace also exhibit this property.

Antique condition
considering the age! Patina is naturally present and I’ve not polished the piece. Very slight wear on a few orbs where the sterling wraps, but only seen upon magnified inspection. Orbs are all clear and contain no inclusions…superb specimens!
