Up for consideration, I have a lower unit taken from an 85 HP Chyrsler outboard. Its in good working condition. It shifts in and out of gear as it should. The gear oil is dark without any signs of water in it. I didn't see any metal chunks or shavings in the oil either. I did notice a little oil residue around the shift shaft rod so that seal possibly needs attention. Overall the case is in nice shape. Taken from an engine used in freshwater only.
